The island has several picturesque fishing villages, including nearby Kukljica, but most fishermen congregate around Kali town - a key Dalmatian fishing harbour. However at one time Ugljan used to attract not only fishermen, but also Croatian aristocracy. Especially those from Zadar enjoyed their summer residences on the island. Be sure to check out quaint villages such as Batalaža, Sutomišćica and Lukoran with their characteristic traditional Dalmatian stone houses and historic villas.

Another treasure of Ugjan is the beautiful nature. You'll love the beach, sea, and distinctive scent of the abundant olive groves. This tiny 50 km2 island has an incredible 200,000 olive trees - hence its local name "the garden of thousand-year-old olives". And Ugjan has about 35 km of cycle paths - absolutely perfect for all cyclists. So simply hop on your "bicikl“ and you're good to go.
